Style crush: Shala Monroque

This St. Lucian native and resident of New York is one of the latest It-girls (by 'latest' I'm talking about the past few years, but not many people seem to know her yet) to grace the covers of fashion and lifestyle magazines (thinks Harpers Bazaar and Town & Country). She's one of the most well-connected women in New York, is dating art world powerhouse Larry Gagosian, works as an editor for Garage - a magazine owned by Dasha Zhukova, gazillionaire Roman Abramovich's art-loving girlfriend (who happens to be a good friend of Monroque) - and is the friend and muse of none other than Miuccia Prada. How's that for credentials? Not too shabby for someone who started off working as a hostess at Manhattan restaurant Nobu.

It's of no surprise to me that Monroque is as widely photographed as she is; the woman has style with a capital 'S'! Plus, have you seen those legs??!! Apparently she also worked as a model and counts Naomi Campbell among her friends...go figure. What I love most about her style is that it is well and truly her own. It's eclectic, colourful, at times a little off-the-wall, often classic with a twist, and always outrageously chic. The way she holds herself with such apparent confidence, grace and dignity, is inspiring - and then there's that smile, the perfect compliment to any outfit.

So, what do you guys think of her? Wish you had her wardrobe?
